History of the Department of Econometrics:

Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, where our department is located, first started its education activities in 1994 with two departments and currently continues education with its seven departments and over 5800 students.

Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences was established on a land of 900 acres in the Biga district of Çanakkale. In Ağaköy Campus, where the Faculty is located, in an indoor area of 29,495 m², in addition to 26 classrooms and 5 lecture halls, a computer laboratory, a computer equipped library, a Foreign Language Preparatory Building, an indoor sports hall with a capacity of 1000 spectators, a conference hall for 550 people, a cafeteria, canteens, patisserie, stationery, internet cafe etc. venues are located. In addition, there are dormitories for boys and girls of the Credit and Hostels Institution and private dormitories and hostels supervised by the Ministry of National Education for the accommodation needs of students.

The Department of Econometrics first started its activities within the scope of our university in the academic year of 2008-2009.

Mission and Vision of the Department of Econometrics:

The mission of Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Econometrics: To provide education and training programs that are dynamic, innovative, creative and constantly trying to reach the best in accordance with universal criteria in line with the training of qualified graduates; To provide a workforce equipped with modern knowledge to the business world in the fields of economics and administrative sciences and to train scientists.

The vision of Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Econometrics: Having an international academic staff, providing contemporary and quality education, conducting academic research and contributing to the literature in this way; To become a department that has made its name known in Turkey and in the world with its academic publications and researches.

Objectives and Goals:

The primary aim of the department is to train individuals who are experts in the field of econometrics. In recent years, rapidly developing information technologies and the application of new numerical methods and techniques have resulted in the increasing use of these methods in the world of economy. In this context, the need for technical staff with the infrastructure to apply the mentioned methods has also increased. The most suitable environment for raising individuals of this nature can be provided with this department. However, the number of Econometrics Department is limited in our country. It is expected that the dynamic structure seen in the Turkish economy in recent years will cause this need to grow even more in the future. The existence of the Department of Econometrics will bring benefits beyond the contribution of the students to the country's economy. Bringing together academicians specialized in this field and coordinating and focusing their studies under the roof of this department will undoubtedly contribute to academic development. One of the primary benefits of this is to contribute to the other departments of Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, both in lectures and academically.

The multi-faceted structure of the Department of Econometrics and its ability to shed light on all sub-branches of the economy provide significant advantages to those who receive education in this field, both academically and in business life. It is one of the goals of our department that our graduates are equipped to work in non-governmental organizations as well as in the public and private sectors or to start business life as entrepreneurs.
